How do you start a project?

We start every project with a discovery call. Sometimes clients will contact us through our website, and others will call directly.
We discuss with you in detail about your project and how we can best help you. Then, we schedule an Interior Design Consultation, where we can really get a sense of your space, budget, timeline and get to know you a bit better too.
After this initial meeting, we send you an in-depth Design Proposal that encompasses our Scope of Work discussed at the consultation. This outlines our responsivities and deliverables and estimated hours to complete these tasks. After the agreement is fulfilled by both parties, we collect a deposit for design work and get started on the Design portion of your project!

What can we expect at an Interior Design Consultation?

Our consultation is two hours of intensive and customized ideas for your home. We start with a tour of your entire home and discuss the needs and goals for each room. You can expect recommendations for improving each area as we walk through. During the tour, we will also be identifying the areas of your home that you want to address first (The priority areas). We will then sit down to formulate a plan for improving the priority areas.

We will provide more detailed information for the priority areas, with hand written notes and quick sketches (if applicable). You are welcomed to take notes if you like. You may also show me any inspiration photos you may have been collecting.

Some of the areas that are typically covered during the consultation are:

  • Laying out a road map for your remodel project and the necessary steps to take
  • Help with defining a comfortable budget
  • Layout suggestions
  • Material suggestions
  • Cabinetry suggestions
  • Paint color ideas
  • Help determining process for remodeling
  • Ideas for furniture layout

We recommend making a list of questions and/or areas of concern and have those ready for our meeting.

We charge a fee for the initial consultation meeting (contact us for this cost because it is dependent on your location and specific needs). The fee is non-refundable and does not get deducted from the design fee in your design agreement if you decide to hire us for your project.

Our time, wisdom, and intellectual value is what you are paying for during this meeting and we have never had a prospective client feel as though they did not get value from our meeting together. (Plus, if we went out for free look-see’s every day we would never get any of our client’s projects accomplished!)

How much will it cost to hire your services for our project?

As each client and every project is different, so is the need for design services. We are a full service Interior Design firm and we assess our client’s needs on a case-by-case basis. We provide each client with an estimated amount of hours that we anticipate spending on their project. These numbers are based on historical data from similar projects. In general, you can expect to spend about 8-10% of your project budget on design fees.  By popular demand, we offer a flat fee for Kitchen Design, which includes all drawings, detailed elevations and specifications, all finish material specifications for $2999.

Renderings and VR Walk throughs are also additional to this service.

We charge hourly for project management for our time and involvement in the finer-tuned logistics that will be required in the execution of your project. This project management fee is accrued over time and billed bi-monthly in most cases.

Do you get trade discounts & if so, do you pass these on to us?

It’s important to understand that the biggest benefit to hiring our services is how we will take care of all of the details for you, manage your project and draw from our years of experience in the business. Our clients rave afterwards about our exceptional customer service, not our discounts. However, we understand that you may wish to understand how this part of the business works. Depending on where an item is sourced from, you may benefit from the discounts we receive from suppliers & retailers. Since our sources and discounts vary, we can assure you that we provide fair pricing and exceptional service

Are we involved in the design process & how can we work with you to get the most out of the experience?

Design projects are very much a collaborative process between us and you as our client. The ‘getting to know you’ phase at the start of the project allows us to understand your needs and your lifestyle. We ask a lot of questions and discuss in depth your requirements for each space. Our goal is to make the process as simple and stress- free as possible.

While working together, we build a partnership with you & establish a trust. When you allow us complete creative rights, we are able to curate a truly beautiful & functioning space that is distinctly you. We ask that you kindly allow us to do what we do best – source all items you’ve requested our assistance in finding and let us present to you so you can see the entire vision for your space. One small change in a fabric, piece of artwork or area rug can compromise the entire project. Relax and let us do what we do best.

Invoices issued for products and services are to be paid in full at the time they are issued. The design deposit is non-refundable, as are all design fees, and is applied to the initial design invoice.
